Dear Friends of Magic Circle Theatre:
After much consideration the Magic Circle Theatre Board of Directors have determined that Magic Circle Theatre will close effective September 23, 2014.
There will be no more productions.
The driving factor in the decision to close is financial – a decline in attendance and ticket sales, plus unexpected increases in Worker’s Compensation Insurance.
An appeal was made in June to raise money to keep the theatre open and finish the 2014 Season. Many of you responded, but unfortunately, donations were insufficient to keep the theatre open, finish the 2014 Season and remain solvent. There is not even enough to mount one more play.
Accordingly, the Board determined closure of the theater was the best course of action.
Magic Circle Theatre is honoring its public trust as a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, and directing any assets remaining after all debts are paid to other theaters and similar non-profit organizations. Your donations helped Magic Circle Theatre end without debt for which the Board is very grateful.
The building is privately owned, and is on the market for sale.
Elsa and the Board of Directors would like to thank you for all your wonderful support over the years. We regret having to close down such a wonderful gem in Carmel Valley Village. Your support has made it a wonderful run of fantastic, funny, dramatic and heartwarming theatre. We cannot thank you enough. You have been a wonderful and supportive audience.
With great gratitude,
Dr. Elsa Con Dr. Richard (Bucky) Jackson
